Make Connections Transit Tote

$30.00 USD

A celebration of public transportation, this eye-catching, up-for-anything, one-of-a-kind tote bag is full of stories and rugged enough for schlepping groceries on the subway or library books on the bus. The fabric print is an intricate collage of public transit cards collected and used by the artist (Emily Ruth Hazel) represent fifteen years of transit history—from New York City and Long Island, New York; Boston, Massachusetts; Chicago, Illinois; St. Louis, Missouri; Los Angeles and Long Beach, California; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Transit cards are arranged in a diagonally ascending rainbow, with light gray tones to the upper left and dark neutral tones on the bottom right. Toward the upper left, a digitally designed element resembling a white and green transit card serves as a back drop for the words: "Every Day Is an Adventure. Share the Ride." Our Make Connections Transit Card Collage Tote is bound to spark conversations wherever it takes you... and it just might bring you luck with making tight connections, too!

Included in this fascinating card collection are several excerpts of poems featured on the backs of NYC Metrocards as part of the Metropolitan Transit Authority's wonderful Poetry in Motion program, which also makes poetry accessible to the general public by posting prints of poems paired with artwork inside subway cars and buses.

Save paper, plastic, and gas by making the most of this tote as a purse/murse and reusable shopping bag—and of course, by taking public transportation when you can!
